Selective Mutism is a surprisingly hard behavior for parents to deal with and is particularly hard for the child, usually under 10, for whom it becomes part of who they are. At school the child may have only one friend to whom they speak, or more often whispers. The child maintains a silence in front of the rest of the class and, of course, the teacher. The longer it continues the more difficult it becomes to break free and the child develops an iron will which appears impossible to break.
The Anxiety Island App helps the child, assisted by the parent, to take the small steps that will enable the child to finally break free without losing face.
